I’ve mentioned that refined sugar, or sucrose, has absolutely zero going for it because it’s been stripped of all vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that our bodies need to thrive and survive.
That’s why we call junk foods “empty calories”-there’s nothing in them to help your body keep its organs, tissues, and cells humming along the way they should.
Here’s what happens when you open wide and shovel sugary foods into your mouth:

If you’re like me, what you’re about to read will shock and horrify you.
Like many of you, I’m very saddened by the lives stolen through drug addiction. Not only the lives of addicts themselves, but of their friends and families as well. Drug addiction affects everyone.
Well imagine my surprise when I discovered that refined sugar is very similar to heroin… one of the most addictive and deadly narcotics out there.

Toxic reason # 1 — Sugar Leads to Cellular Death.
In 1957, Dr. William Coda Martin published a study on the chemical effects of sugar on the body. In a nutshell, here’s what’s going on… The process of refining sugar completely drains the sugar of vitamins and minerals. That is why sugar is said to have nothing but empty calories. When the body tries to digest the refined sugar, it can’t break it down nutritionally. This creates a toxic acid called pyruvic acid. This acid has a lethal effect on our cells. Basically, it blocks oxygen from getting through… resulting in cellular death. And, according to Dr. Martin, this “is the beginning of degenerative disease.”
Sugar is the Legal Narcotic?
Our life can be full of paradoxes, sometimes representing our collective way of turning our back on problems and our approach to sugar addiction is one such area. We place a considerable amount of time, effort and resource (and rightly so) in the war against illegal drugs and in a battle to try and get people to turn away from smoking. Smoking is surely the biggest single addiction in our society, we are told and is directly linked, quite vocally so, to many serious illnesses. However, when it comes to sugar very little is said in the mainstream about its ability to create a significant addiction, ticking away in the background of our lives and causing its problems over time.
Symptoms of Sugar Dependence
If you don’t believe that sugar addiction is a realistic and potentially very harmful problem facing society today, you probably don’t even need to conduct additional research or look at other people to find out the truth, as you may be suffering from this most prevalent and most significant challenge yourself. It is estimated that the majority of people who partake in a typical Western diet eat far in excess of a sensible amount of sugar in any one day and many people still discount the negative primary effects and side effects that this product can deliver.
